About
Dia Weeks
Becoming Your Wellness Homegirl has been a lifelong journey for Dia. The only way to truly appreciate and become passionate about wellness, is to first experience unwellness. Having struggled in all 8 dimensions of wellness from childhood, it was not until 2018 when Dia almost lost her battle against depression that she decided to do something about it. Her perspective shifted from life happening TO her to life happening FOR her. She became determined to find a way to navigate through the challenges in her path to be able to live her best life.
Getting her degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Temple University unlocked her passion for helping others achieve physical wellness. Having been coaching and teaching since 2016, she realized that wellness was so much more than just the physical. Physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, financial, social, occupational, and environmental wellness are all grossly interconnected. It was impossible to get someone to push themselves physically when they were struggling with one of the other aspects of life. This is when she realized that others needed someone who could holistically approach improving quality of life. This is what birthed Your Wellness Homegirl.

Faith – Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not yet see (Hebrews 11:1). We have faith that we will live in a time of global wellness.
Vulnerability – Vulnerability is our superpower. By being vulnerable, we give others the permission to validate their experiences and overcome the barriers that they face to achieve genuine wellness.
Self-efficacy – “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” We want to provide you with the tools to live a life of sustainable wellness.
Community – We are not meant to do this life alone. We are here to support and uplift one another as we embark on this journey of lifelong wellness.
Equity – We recognize that we do not all start from the same place or have the same barriers to overcome. We are committed to providing the resources to get everyone to the equal outcome of Unprecedented Wellness.

When you think of self care + wellness what comes to mind? Getting your hair and nails done? Bubble baths? Wine after a long day? While, yes, these are all forms of self care, they take up a minuscule amount of what self care actually is. Why didn’t brushing your teeth come to mind? Or going to your checkups with your doctor? How about having a clean home?
Society has ingrained in us that self care is a luxury as opposed to a necessity. We are taught that it is something to be done retroactively once you are burnt out, sick, or falling apart. When in reality it is something that should be done proactively to sustain quality of life and prevent those things from even occurring. Self care is taking care of yourself.
By indoctrinating that self care and wellness are only luxury items to be afforded by those with disposable income + time, barriers have been created to prevent it from being achievable by all. The fact that wellness is not accessible to everyone is the sole thing that motivates me. Being a Black woman I have witnessed first hand how racial, socioeconomic, and educational barriers have impeded the health and wellness of so many. I aspire to demolish those barriers and redefine self care as something more than mani/pedis and bubble baths. Self care is an essential requirement to being well that everyone deserves, not a luxury only the elite can afford.
I desire to be on the front lines of radical change through not just a city, not just a state, not just a country, but the world. I have faith that we will one day live in a world that prioritizes self care and wellness above all else. In order to accomplish that, I am charged with creating space for such change to happen. I will create affordable and accessible content + resources that are digestible for everyone and provide practical changes that meet you where you are at.
